At a ceremony which was included in the celebrations of the 25th of April, the Porto Town Council awarded António Mota, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mota-Engil, the Municipal Gold Medal of Merit. This ceremony took place at the Porto Town Council and was attended by several personalities and other award winners, including the Architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. This award, proposed by the Mayor of the Porto Town Council, Rui Rio, is aimed at distinguishing personalities who have stood out with personal merits or civil duties.
Days before the ceremony and in an interview to the Porto Town Council, António Mota told us of how he felt after he found out about that he was being honoured: “I wasn’t expecting this, but it is always a nice surprise and it is with great honour that I received this Medal of Merit because this medal is not for me, it is for the company.” António Mota also added that “I went to University in Porto, I traveled around the world, visiting the worksites the company had, but my home is the city of Porto.”
