Regularization of the Mondego River bed in its alluvial final stretch between the cities of Coimbra and Figueira da Foz, in a stretch of about 40 km, which included the excavation works executed by dredging and with cut/suction/ repulsion equipment. The goal was to improve the farming conditions in neighbouring areas. This project transformed the Centre in one of the main projects of the 20th Century in Portugal.
