Mota-Engil celebrates 80 years with its sights set on the future

The celebration brought together more than 500 guests at the Convento do Beato and featured a discussion with Mario Draghi on the major challenges facing Europe.

On 2 July, Mota-Engil marked eight decades of history with a corporate celebration at the Convento do Beato in Lisbon. Under the theme “A Legacy of Inspiration”, the event brought together over 500 guests, including institutional representatives, partners, clients and Group executives.

One of the highlights of the programme was the “Challenges of the Century” conference, which featured Mario Draghi, former President of the European Central Bank and former Prime Minister of Italy, in a discussion moderated by journalist Clara de Sousa.

During the celebration, Mota-Engil’s Chairman and CEO, Carlos Mota Santos, highlighted the resilience, hard work, ambition, ability to turn challenges into opportunities and humanistic ethos that have underpinned the Group’s development.

The corporate dinner was presided over by the President of the Republic, António José Seguro, who highlighted Mota-Engil’s contribution to Portugal’s development and competitiveness, as well as the human dimension that has characterised the company since its foundation.

The programme concluded with a musical performance inspired by the different countries where Mota-Engil operates, reflecting the Group’s cultural diversity and global reach.

More than simply looking back on the journey so far, the celebration reaffirmed Mota-Engil’s ambition to continue developing infrastructure, creating value and contributing to the progress of communities, honouring the legacy it has inherited and building the future.
