Santos-Guarujá Tunnel

Mota-Engil won the tender for the construction of the Santos-Guarujá Tunnel in the state of São Paulo.
Under discussion since 1927, this project will revolutionise mobility in the region, reducing travel time between the two cities by 90% and strengthening logistical integration with the Port of Santos.

For Manuel Mota, president of Mota-Engil South America, this project ‘has as its striking feature the construction of Brazil’s first submerged tunnel, to be operated by the concessionaire for 30 years, which will be a milestone for Mota-Engil in Brazil, in a new cycle for the company that we intend to deepen in the future in a market with high potential’.
