Environmental awareness campaign at Mota-Engil Peru

As part of World Environment Day 2025, Mota-Engil Peru carried out an environmental awareness campaign at the “Raising stage 6 of the tailings dam” – Toromocho project, which ran throughout June.

The main objective was to raise employee awareness about environmental care, highlighting practical solutions to reduce plastic pollution while promoting responsible behaviors committed to nature, both in professional and personal life.

Awareness activities began on May 1st through communications in weekly toolbox meetings and were reinforced with posters on project notice boards, at the end of the month. During June, five specific campaigns were conducted, designed as healthy competitions to encourage active participation from all employees. The main activities included:

  • Environmental videos: produced in operational areas to showcase good environmental practices in daily work;
  • Family videos: featuring employees’ children, demonstrating how to care for the environment at home;
  • Environmental drawings: focused on desertification and drought prevention, aimed at employees’ children;
  • Environmental games: organized in work areas, with questions on environmental protection and interactive activities to reinforce best practices;
  • “Our green space”: adopting plants on desks and planting trees and shrubs on the project grounds.

To encourage participation, each campaign included symbolic prizes for winners.

The campaign helped strengthen the environmental culture at the project, evidenced by improved waste segregation and greater care in daily practices. At the same time, it promoted internal motivation to “want to do”, in line with the third phase of Meliá’s Triconditional Theory, which posits that performance depends not only on knowing and being able to execute a task, but also on the genuine willingness to carry it out. In this sense, implementing an incentive program linked to environmental actions translated this approach into concrete practice.
