Its presence in the environmental sector began in 1994 in Portugal through SUMA, in the segment of urban and industrial waste management and collection, urban cleaning and environmental education, to which it added competences in 2015 with EGF, a leading company in the sector, with cutting-edge European technology in the treatment and recovery of waste, as well as in energy production through the energy recovery plant and the capture of biogas in landfill.
Today, Mota-Engil Ambiente coordinates projects in this sector. As the leader in the Portuguese waste management market and with continuous investment in technological modernisation, Mota-Engil Ambiente is present throughout the value chain, from urban cleaning to the collection, treatment and recovery of waste, with industrial and technological units dedicated to recycling, selective sorting, energy recovery of waste (incineration and biogas) and organic recovery.
Internationally, Mota-Engil is active in this sector in Angola (Vista Waste), Mozambique (Ecolife), Brazil (SUMA Brasil), Oman (EcoVision) and Ivory Coast (Eco Eburnie and Clean Eburnie).
