Mota-Engil acquires a stake of Empresa Construtora Brasil, SA

23.04.2013

At the close of 2012, Mota-Engil carried out its objective to enter the construction sector in Brazil by acquiring a majority of the share capital of the Brazilian construction company Empresa Construtora Brasil, SA (ECB). Mota-Engil Brasil invested a total of 19.2 million euros, which included the acquisition price and capital increase, with a view to giving the company the conditions needed to accelerate its growth.

Mota-Engil now has the possibility of collaborating in the demanding but motivating challenge resulting from the infrastructure plan for the coming years now in progress in this country.

With a vast technical portfolio based on 67 years of existence, ECB is a storehouse of know-how in various areas of construction, especially important being its experience in segments such as highway and railway infrastructures, urban maintenance and sanitation, industrial and mining infrastructures, dams and highway concessions.

For Carlos Mota Santos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mota-Engil Latin America, the bet on this company involved its vast and recognised technical know-how, associated with a shareholder structure that from the first moment demonstrated it was aligned and in solidarity with the strategic vision of development for the company.
