Mota-Engil takes part in the Development of Alqueva

The Mota-Engil Group assured a further contract for the building of drains, roads and water supply infrastructures, a project to be executed by EDIA (Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-Estruturas do Alqueva– Alqueva Infrastructure Development Company).

The contract was signed on June 13 by Pedro Salma, the chairman of EDIA together with the Mota-Engil CEO, Martinho de Oliveira. Work on the contract in the district of Beja will be carried out jointly with HCI and is worth some 16,885 euros for the supply of 31.75 kilometres.

 Mota-Engil has been collaborating with EDIA since 1997 in a portfolio of some 15 contracts worth in excess of 284 million euros, including tourism and agricultural developments boosting the acknowledged economic potential of this region in the South of Portugal.

In the ceremony, which was attended by the minister of Agriculture and Sea, Assunção Cristas, and Regional Development minister, Luís Miguel Poiares Maduro, a further five contracts for water supply infrastructure for some 20,285 hectares of land in the Lower Alentejo were awarded.
